Steubenville

Liturgical and music anarchy are still very much alive and well, even amidst all the talk about "reform of the reform", new ICEL translation, Sacramentum Caritatis, Redemptionis Sacramentum, Motu Proprio, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Behold the Holy Week liturgy at neo-con charismatic heaven Franciscan University of Steubenville (FUS), where popular Novus Ordo celebrity Scott Hahn currently lectures at. And oh dear, the Wikipedia entry for Scott Hahn even calls FUS "a major center of conservative Catholic thought in the United States"! I shudder to think what they would consider as liberal centers of Catholic thought.

Compare this to another scenario also in the United States. No prizes for guessing, but which would you consider as a better candidate to be "a major center of conservative Catholic thought in the United States"? :)

This is in response to some of the comments made onver at the FUS youtube video.

I think all the arguments amongst Catholics should cease, because at the end of the day, all out bikering will come to naught. How are we supposed to be the light to the world when we are causing the flame that the Holy Spirit kindled during our confirmation to flicker?

I'll not go so far as to comment that the FUS Catholic community aren't true Catholics. Misguided (in the liturgical sense) perhaps, but un-Catholic, definately not. After all don't we all recite the same creed every Sunday? Can't we all be alittle more charitable?

GK Chersterton, "The Catholic Church even when most watered down, has the power to boil the world to rags".

Well, even saints argued with one another, e.g. St Bonaventure against St Thomas. As long as they are not arguing just for the sake of arguing....

I was at the March 7th Tridentine Mass at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis!!! How much our worship has been Protestantized is beyond me...

Hmm... don't mind me asking, what are your grievances, if any, do you have against Scott Hahn?

Hi Mark,

I have nothing much against Scott Hahn, though it can be perplexing to see such liturgies at the university he lectures at.

I see.. well.. perhaps Mr Hahn finds it more perplexing himself as he lectures there.. hehe...

I was listening to one of Scott Hahn's audio recoding some time back. He mentioned his amazement and astonishment when He realized (a few years after his conversion) that the Church actually had Gregorian Chant and Latin Masses. He said that he really liked it, futhurmore, Campus Mass attendence has never been better ever since the introduction of Gregorian Chant Masses.
